Established in 1883, our Seattle office is the city’s oldest law office and also one of its largest. For many years, corporate lawyers in the firm’s Seattle office have led transactions ranging from mid-sized to cross-border billion dollar deals. Our team handles trials, arbitrations, and appeals in local, national, and international venues. Pioneers in their industry, our e-Discovery Analysis and Technology group works alongside our litigators and provides thought leadership through an award-winning blog.

Our IP practice is on the leading edge of technology and law, helping clients to develop, commercialize, and protect their patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. Our Technology Transactions and Sourcing team handles all aspects of rapidly evolving legal IP issues, including technology transactions; internet and cloud computing; and IP development, distribution, licensing, monetization, and protection. We help clients address issues raised by electronic contracting, financial regulations, privacy regulations and web services. Our Cybersecurity and Privacy group works with clients to protect their online brands, internet commerce sites, and computer systems from internet-based threats and cyber attacks. Our Pharma and BioPharma Litigation team represents clients on federal Hatch-Waxman litigation and Patent Office proceedings and also provides strategy for successfully launching pharmaceutical products. Our IP Procurement team helps clients develop their patent and trademark portfolios.

Our Labor, Employment, and Workplace Safety lawyers advise employers on general employment issues; help draft policies and handbooks; and handle complex union, leave law, and wage and hour issues. We also assist clients in responding to agency investigations and represent them in discrimination, wage and hour, and other lawsuits filed in state and federal courts. Our team has extensive experience in conducting legal compliance and due diligence audits for clients and in evaluating potential acquisition targets.

Our Energy, Infrastructure, and Resources practice advises clients as they finance, site, and develop renewable resource and thermal generating projects, as well as electric transmission and interstate natural gas pipelines projects. The group works on a range of climate change issues, from compliance with greenhouse gas regulations to the creation and trading of renewable energy credits. Our lawyers also participate in the negotiation, drafting, and enactment of statutes, regulations, and executive orders and have testified before legislative and regulatory panels on leading-edge issues for our clients.

Clients call upon our Real Estate lawyers to address development, construction, leasing, acquisition, financing, eminent domain, and real estate litigation needs. Our team has worked on some of the most complex public-private joint ventures and infrastructure projects in the Pacific Northwest. We also have lawyers who focus their practices on environmental, land use, and natural resources issues.
